Her YouTube journey began on April 13, 2014, when she created her YouTube channel titled „memyselfandmell“. A few months later she uploaded her first video titled „Advice With Mel: Middle School“. Since YouTube users reacted very well in her first clip, she decided to continue making videos about beauty, fashion, teenage struggles e.t.c.

Mel renamed her channel to „Mel Joy“ which is a combination of her first name and middle name. She creates makeup tutorials, reviews of products, hair and skincare routines, challenges, DIY, Q&A videos and vlogs.
